Gotham Candidate Forum: Division 8
Players in Division 8 will be voting from December 11th, 2024, through 11:59 PM on December 15th, 2024, to elect captains for the Spring 2025 Division Play Season as well as Team All Stars for the Fall 2024 Division Play Season. If you play in Division 8 and have not received a ballot after 2 PM on December 11th, please e-mail [email protected].

- Denis Sazhin–Being a captain, for me, is all about building a dream team, bringing out the best in every player, turning teammates into real friends, and making this season so epic they’ll write songs about it—or at least laugh about it over post-game drinks!

- Nick Anthony Dantuono–Was this season that Sweet? I guess so! 💕 ☕️ I had a blast this season and I am ready to “serve” again as a D8 captain! As a captain, I strive to foster a team environment that’s social, supportive, and growth-oriented. Winning Gold isn’t everything, but it sure is fun. 🤪 If re-elected, I look forward to bringing competitive, fun-loving energy! Let’s continue to build an inclusive division together by building and strengthening friendships, and providing a healthy platform for improvement and development. Let’s make next season another season to remember! 🤍 🏐

- Kyle Svehla–Hello everyone! It has been wonderful being a part of an amazing volleyball community in division 8, and I would love the opportunity to be a captain again! It was so much fun leading a team as a former captain in Gotham. Saturdays with my volleyball fam are always a highlight of the weekend, and I am looking forward to another fun season with you all!

- Bradley Schleyer–I have played in Gotham for more than 40 seasons (divisions 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9) and been a captain for more than 20 seasons (divisions 2, 4, 5). I would love to serve as D8 captain and foster an amazing team environment. As captain I value competitive play, fun times on the court, inclusive environment, good sportsmanship and fun team building! Please select me as your future captain.

- Matthew Wotus–I’m the perfect example of what someone can accomplish in Gotham if they work hard on and off the court. I’ve gone from PowerPlay, to D11, to D8, and I’m the happiest I’ve been in my life because of the incredible friends and memories I’ve made since joining. Being a captain in D11 was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and not because we won double gold. I created an environment that allowed my team to become best friends, and that’s what I’m most proud of. It would be an honor to be a captain in D8.

- Steven Ott–What is this feeling, Gotham Volleyball? OH! Its a new season! My name is Steven Ott, and I’m thrilled to announce that I’m running for Spring 2025 D8 Captain! This past season has been nothing short of fun and crazy, and I’m eager to HOLD SPACE for the opportunity to lead a fantastic D8 team. With experience captaining in both D9 and D10, I’m ready to bring the same joy, laughter, teamwork, and competitive energy to this season’s team—plus my signature on-court dancing and occasional acrobatics on the floor! I’m so excited for this next chapter in D8 and can’t wait to defy gravity with you all. Let’s make this season unforgettable!

Throwing my hat in the ring because I think I’d draft a competitive squad, get us moving and working together as a team in warmups and practice, and keep the positive energy up all season, win or lose! - Kevin Hickey–My D8 family is an integral part of my life. Everyone always comes together to create a competitive division. Like many of you, I get so much from Gotham, and captaining is a chance for me to give back both on and off the court.
