Division 8 Captains Candidates
Players in Division 8 will be voting from May 6th, 2026 through 11:59 PM on May 10th, 2026 to elect captains for the Fall 2026 Division Play Season as well as Team All Stars for the Spring 2026 Division Play Season. If you play in Division 8 and have not received a ballot after 2 PM on May 6th, please e-mail elections@gothamvolleyball.org.

Coming back to Division 8 for a third time. Training Season is over, and I’d love the chance to be a captain — to build a team that’s competitive and supportive. For the past two seasons, this community has always shown up and Levitated me on and off the court, and would love the opportunity to contribute to it. My goal is for us to show up, play hard, and have fun. As a first-time captain, I don’t have New Rules for dominating, but I do believe that teamwork, consistency, and good vibes can make this season Be The One

I’m running for captain because I care deeply about both the competitive spirit and the community that make this league special. As the unofficial social chair, I’ve worked to bring people together, keep energy high, and make sure everyone feels included—on and off the court. I lead with positivity, consistency, and a genuine love for the game. At the same time, I value strong teamwork, accountability, and growth so we can stay competitive and push each other to improve. I want to create a team environment where we show up for each other, have fun, and play our best every match.

Hi D8 Divas!! What. A. Season. I loved being captain this season and playing with you all! My goal will always be to build a competitive team that is also able to have fun on and off the court. Ok.....getting gold and talking with others in the division convinced me to run again for captain for a 3rd season! I’ve gotten so much from captaining and have really enjoyed building teams that are competitive and fun to be around. Would love to keep that going and helping the division grow!
Miguel Luis (Migs) Arias
If you want a team that plays hard but doesn’t take itself too seriously, we’ll get along great! I’ve been with Gotham for four seasons and love the mix of competition and community. I’ll keep things organized and communicative on (and off) the court, and make sure the vibes stay strong off it… not just the usual post-game drinks… think of team dinners, game night(s), and other team bonding activities amongst ourselves and with other teams! I’m all about good energy, solid teamwork, and making sure people actually look forward to showing up each week. Let’s get some wins and have a great time doing it! (P.S., team name and cheers are ready, and nothing Gotham has seen before… I think. Haha. We’re gonna have lots of fun!)

Who doesn’t love a little bit of drama? From ‘Court n Sweet’ and ‘Ready for Hit’ to ‘Demon Hitters’ and ‘Torch Snuffers’, it’s been a great run. I’m so proud of the relationships we’ve built and the growth we’ve demonstrated as a Division, both on and off the court. Creating a space that’s both social and structured, where people can feel connected and challenged, is what matters most to me. I’d be honored to continue serving as Captain, helping keep the community healthy, inclusive, and balanced across skill levels. I’m looking forward to whatever next season brings! 🩵 🏐
